The Baird Company, founded in the 1930s, originally manufactured concrete steps and septic tanks. In 1962, George Marquart purchased Baird and continued in the concrete manufacturing business as well as fabricating hand rails.
As the commercial satellite communications industry grew in the mid-1970s, Baird began to switch its focus to meet the growing demand for satellite supporting systems. Baird began to fabricate poles and antenna mounts for area installers.
In the mid-1980s, Baird expanded its facility and workforce to meet the upsurge in product demand. By the late1980s, Baird had become a major supplier of antenna mounts for the commercial satellite communications industry. Continued growth of the product line as well as increased sales volume required extensive expansion projects in 1990 and 1994. Baird Satellite Supporting Systems now has the capacity to better serve all of its customers.
